Arranged for SSSAATTBB, this 10-minute a cappella motet is suitable for advanced choirs for both concert and liturgical perfomances. It is a reflective and richly textured work, which uses an anonymous Latin text from a setting by Robert Carver (16
th century). Its use of counterpoint interspersed by rich quiet chordal phrases emphasises the spiritually ecstatic nature of the text to great effect. English, German and French reference translations are included in this edition.
O bone Jesu has already been performed nearly 30 times in the UK and US by The Sixteen (conducted by Harry Christophers) since its premiere in October 2003.
