To celebrate Elliott Carter's 100th year, this years Proms opening night will see the the U.K. Premiere of "Caténaires" for solo piano on July 18th

Recent years have seen an outpouring of major orchestral scores and numerous chamber works from this latter-day American icon.

The 2008 Proms will also see performances of Carter's "Oboe Concerto", "Night Fantasies," and another U.K. Premiere with "Soundings."
